Replacement Hub and Electric Brakes Needed for Older Camper Trailer with M12946 Outer Bearing
Question:
I purchased a trailer that I believe was an old camp trailer at one time, i am unable to find brand on axles, it is 6 lug on 5.5 bolt patten. I pulled one hub off the trailer to measure bearing size/number. The outer bearing is M12649. The inside bearing I as unable to pull out of hub but it appears to be right around 1.395 on the spindle. I am looking for all new electric brakes, hubs and bearing, if you have any ideas or need any more info I will do my best to get it for you. Thanks

I do have a solution for you, but unfortunately we do not carry any bearings or kits that includes the bearings that are comparable to the bearings that you have. Since the one bearing that you were able to get a part number for (M12649) is from older trailers, it would probably be a little more beneficial to swap out your axle(s) for a replacement that has more common parts.
We have the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension Systems, like part # TASR7KS01, which make replacing your axle(s) much easier than it has been in the past. You will not need to find the hub face or spring seat measurements, plus you will not need to mock up your trailer with all of the suspension parts to ensure everything works properly. I have attached an installation video that you can check out to see how easy these are to install.
The Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # 8-201-5UC3-EZ and Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK-7-SA are compatible with this system and will provide you with electric brakes and a hub that has a 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern.
If you can verify the weight capacity of your axle, which is typically found in the middle of the axle, I can make sure that this replacement recommendation is correct for your application.
