Curt ball mounts # C45112 and 45110 are essentially the same with a slight difference in overall length. The C45112 is 14 inches long and the 45110 is 13 inches long.

Hi, What is the benefit in the CURT 45112 being 1" longer than the CURT 45110? Or if necessary, what is the advantage of the other being 1" shorter?

The benefit of a longer shank would just be a be little more clearance between the rear bumper of your tow vehicle and the trailer coupler. I'm not sure how much difference an inch would make, but typically more clearance is sought when you want room to open up a truck's tailgate with the trailer hooked up or if there are other potential obstructions that extend out the rear bumper like an in-bed camper, etc.

i see a question has been asked about the difference between the 45110 and 45112. the answer given was that the 45112 is an inch longer. now in regards to the 45112, your claimed is 9 1/4, where Curt claims its 10 inches. Curt also claims the on the 45110 is 10 inches so, would it be safe to say that the , according to you guys on the 45110 is also 9 1/4? and how precise is this measurement? Im trying to keep my ground clearance as high as possible, and every 1/4 inch i can get, ill take. Im looking for a 9 . so why does Curt claim its 10, if it isnt? its not like more is better in this case...

I did some checking and it looks like the Curt # C45112 does actually have a 10" drop, which is measured from the top of the shank to the top of the ball platform. We will be updating the product page. The closets we have to a 9" drop is the Curt # C45338, which has a drop of 8-1/4".
