Troubleshooting No Running Lights on 4-Way Connector Spliced Into 7-Way on 2017 GMC Sierra

Question:

On my 2017 GMC i tapped into the wiring behind the 7 pin connection with a 4 pin connector. I have both turn signals, brake lights but no running lights. Is it possible that I tapped into the wrong wire for the running lights and have the other lights work? What color should the brown wire be tied into on the back of the 7 pin connector on my truck? My gues i have spliced into the wrong wire.

It is completely possible to have gained the functions of your turn and stop lights and tapped into the wrong wire for running lights. The wire you want to tap into for your running lights is in the 11 o'clock position as you look at the outside of the connector (or the 1 o'clock position when viewing the back of the connector. I've attached a photo to assist that includes colors, but go off of function location if the colors don't match up.

If in doubt, use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to test for function before splicing.
