For your 2003 Dodge Durango without the OEM tow package wiring, you will need to hard wire a brake controller. We have detailed instructions and all of the parts you will need. First, you will need to start with the brake controller itself. The Prodigy P2 brake controller, item # 90885, would be a great choice. You will not need the wiring harness, item # 3020-P, for Dodge vehicles, since your vehicle did not come equipped with the factory tow package. Even though the plug may be present under the dash, the wiring is terminated in the vehicle wiring harness and is very hard to find, and would still need to be extended.

Along with a quality brake controller like the P2, you will need a 4-Way connector, if your vehicle does not have one, and a brake controller wiring kit. The correct 4-Way connector for your 2003 Durango is the wiring harness # 118334. We have a video detailing the installation of this harness for you to review and I have also linked some instructions. The brake controller installation kit # ETBC7, is also needed. We have a video and detailed instructions for this kit also. The # ETBC7 kit includes all of the parts needed to complete the installation of a brake controller on your Durango.
