Is an RV Trailer Hitch Compatible with a Motorcycle Carrier and 375 lb Honda Helix Scooter?

Question:

I have a 2016 forest river wildwood 24foot foot camper and want to install a class 3 trailer hitch to haul a Honda helix Scooter with a 50LB carrier on the back which weighs about 375LBs. Can it be done safely?

The back of a trailer is not a safe location to tow a scooter. The back of a trailer has far more movement than the back of a vehicle and makes the carrier unwise to use. It will have far more torque on the hitch due to the suspension differences and could also cause dangerous sway due to that extra weight on the back of the trailer. There is not a motorcycle carrier rated for RV use for these reasons.

If you want to add a trailer hitch to the back of your trailer for an RV rated bike rack or other accessory, I recommend the Curt Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs, 22" to 72" Wide # 13703. I've linked the RV rated bike carriers for you as not even all bike carriers can be used on the back of a trailer safely.
