Recommended Pin Weight Rating for Towing a 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Trailer with a 2015 Ford F-350
Question:
Im looking at a 39 foot 2007 Travel Supreme Rally Sport with a dry weight of 16,500 the fifth wheel has been converted to gooseneck. I have a F350 2015 6.7 diesel truck with single rear wheels and short bed. What would be the approximate pin weight would be and do you think my truck would handle the weight?

Helpful Expert Reply:
The recommended pin weight for a 5th wheel trailer, even if it has been converted to a gooseneck, is 20% of the loaded weight of the trailer. This is regardless of the vehicle you are towing it with.
If you do not already have a gooseneck hitch installed on your 2015 Ford F-350 I highly recommend the B&W Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # BWGNRK1111 which uses a Turnoverball for a clear bed when not towing, plus it is made right here in the USA!
When I looked up the owner's manual for your F-350 it looks like you have a maximum GCWR (Gross Combined Weight Rating) of 23,500 lbs so you should be good to go. You will want to consult your owner's manual for any towing specifications, especially when it comes to the weight of your trailer.
