Differences Between the AirLift and Firestone Coil Spring Helper Airbags for a 2017 Ram 1500
Question:
I would like to know what would be the best choice between the Air Lift 1000 and the Firestone Coil-Rite 1000 for a 2017 RAM 1500? They first look pretty much identical based on installation and design, but I noticed that the Firestone air bags are rated to 70 PSI max where Air Lift are rated at only 35 PSI max. So obviously, I understand that the Firestone air bags will be 2x stiffer when fully inflated and that also imply that they will be technically 2x stronger under maximum load? Is that correct?

Expert Reply:
Both the Firestone Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs part # F4185 and the Air Lift AirLift 1000 Air Helper Springs part # AL60818 are good options for your 2017 Ram 1500. The only real difference between the two is their pressure rating. As you previously mentioned, the Firestone airbags are rated up to 70 psi whereas the AirLift airbags are only rated up to 35 psi.
Although the Firestone airbags are rated up to a higher psi than the AirLift airbags, they both have a maximum load leveling capacity of 1,000 lbs. The extra 35 psi of air in the Firestone airbags will allow for more adjustment. I have attached an installation video of the airbags installed on a similar 2011 Dodge Ram for you as well.
