Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

Question:

I have a Thor 29FE and just perchased a 2017 jeep unlimited wrangler and want to know what I need to flat tow it. Tow bracket and tow bar and what are the options. I saw that the roadmster tow bracket required less modification than blue OX and would like to stick with that

Flat towing a vehicle behind a motorhome like your Thor requires a few components, including base plates and a tow bar among other items, and the linked overview article covers all of them. I also linked several additional articles that address certain specific components.

Let's start with base plates for your Wrangler Unlimited. The linked page displays all base plates for the various versions of the Unlimited. Choose your bumper type to see the compatible models. For instance, if you have the standard factory bumper with no winches or guards you can use the Roadmaster EZ5 base plate # RM-521448-5. The linked video shows you the entire process and the written instructions are linked too.

The tow bar I suggest is the Roadmaster Falcon 2, part # RM-520, along with safety cables # RM-643. For a wiring/lighting kit you have many options shown on the linked page; these include diode kits like # RM-15267, simple low-cost magnetic lights like # TL21RK and even custom plug-in harness kit # HM56200. You can refer to the linked article for help selecting your best option.

Braking systems are shown on another link. These include the Blue Ox Patriot part # BLU37TR, which offers portability and wireless operation, making it among the easiest such systems to use. You will also need 12V outlet kit # RM-9332.

High/low hitch adapters are also linked and are reviewed in the included article. Choose the one that lets your tow bar remain level or close to level.

Always check your vehicle owner's manual for any steps required to get it ready for flat towing.
