Best Way To Combat Vehicle Sag While Towing 2017 GMC Sierra 1500

Question:

Can you please recommend a rear suspension load assist item for a 2017 GM Sierra 1500? Im just looking to keep the truck bed height from sagging when towing a camper that has about a 1000lb tongue weight. My max is 1200lb tongue weight. I guess maybe an air assist would work?

You are correct. I personally would not recommend any other form of suspension enhancement as the best option. For a set of airbags confirmed to fit your 2017 GMC Sierra 1500, I recommend using the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs part # F2430.

This airbag kit will work with both 5th wheel/gooseneck and straight tongue trailers. I view airbags as the best option because you can get the perfect amount of support, adjusted to your needs without compromising ride quality. The airbags will replace the factory bump stops on your vehicle and will work well to not only minimize vehicle sag but also help to increase stability and improve steering/braking while loaded.

The only downside of an airbag kit is having to enter and exit the vehicle to adjust them. This can easily be eliminated using an on-board compressor kit like the Firestone Air Command I part # F2158. I have attached a review and installation video of these airbags installed on a similar 2010 Chevy Silverado 1500 for you.
