Recommendation for Lighter 5th-Wheel Sliding Hitch for 2016 GMC Sierra with Factory Rail Kit

Im looking at the BandW 5th hitch Patriot slider. The Companion is too heavy so Im considering the Patriot but want utilize the ease of the puck system I have. Is such a model available? Thanks.

The B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch # BWRVK3770 referenced in your question is the only hitch model currently available that will mount directly to the factory rail kit on your 2016 Sierra 3500. This is an excellent sliding hitch that will mount directly to the factory pucks in the truck bed and give you 12 inches of travel front to back. Also note that the head of the Companion can be removed to help with installation and removal of the hitch. The head itself weighs only 74 pounds.
The B&W Patriot cannot be mounted directly to the factory pucks on your truck.
We do have some lighter options available that will be compatible with your truck's rail kit with an adapter. I recommend looking at the Demco Hijacker Premier Series Ultra Slide # DM6076P-UL-21K along with the Rail Adapter # DM6194. This sliding hitch features a towing capacity of 21,000 pounds. The hitch itself weighs 210 pounds (the B&W Companion weighs 256 pounds) and features a wraparound, single-piece jaw to provide a secure connection with the trailer king pin.
If you are able to go down a bit in capacity, we also have the Demco Hijacker # DM6076P-UL-16K that weighs just 186 pounds. This hitch has a towing capacity of 16,000 pounds and will use the same Rail Adapter # DM6194 to mount to the pucks in your truck bed.
