Parts Needed to Install Brake Controller in 2004 Ford Expedition

Question:

2004 Ford Expedition - HAS OEM 4 flat wiring, trying to find a plug and play 7 round harness. Will either PN 118247 or 118242 work? Also, is PN 3035-P the correct harness for the Brake Controller connection under the hood? You guys are THE BEST!!

You will have to do some splicing, but you will not have to run the wires all the way to the front of your 2004 Ford Expedition. If you watch the installation video on a 2004 Expedition that I am linking to this answer for you, you will see that you will only have to run the wires to just under the driver's side rear door. Here you will find two plugs. The bottom plug is where you will splice in to the red and blue wires.

What you will need to complete your brake controller setup is the Kit # ETBC7. This will enable you to change your 4-way to a 7-way. It also includes the 2 wires that you will need to finish the wiring. One of these wires is the blue one that you mentioned which will send the signal from the brake controller to your trailer's electric brakes, the other wire is to provide the 12V battery power to your trailer from your Expedition's battery.

The # 3035-P would not be needed.

I also attached a helpful article about wiring for you.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes. This will be the last brake controller you buy. It can easily be transferred to future vehicles as well.
