Alternative To Weight Distribution To Reduce Vehicle Sag When Towing Trailer w/ 2006 Honda Pilot LX

Question:

I have an after market 5000 lb hitch on a 2006 pilot and am going to tow a 2006 flagstaff 625D. The rear of the pilot sags over 1.5 inches. In the owners manual it states that a weight distribution hitch is not recommended. What concerns should i have if i do or do not install a weight distribution hitch. 2006 Honda pilot LX towing a 3200 lb tent trailer

If Honda states that a weight distribution system is not to be used on your 2006 Honda Pilot LX, I would follow the recommendations set by Honda. However, I do have a solution that will help reduce vehicle sag when towing your 2006 Flagstaff 625D.

Not installing a weight distribution system, will not allow you to reap the benefits that a weight distribution system provides. With a weight distribution system, the load you are carrying is distributed throughout the frame of the vehicle. This allows the vehicle to sit more evenly, rather than sag at the rear which provides increase traction and better steering of the vehicle. Weight distribution systems can also help in reducing trailer sway.

What you can do to reduce vehicle sag when towing your trailer is use the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System, part # THROD2. The Timbren System will help reduce vehicle sag when towing, can help with the ride quality and reduce body roll as well. Part # THROD2 will fit both the 2 and 4-wheel drive Honda Pilots.

The Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System, # THROD2, will not increase your vehicles towing capacity. You will want to make sure to stay within the towing and tongue weight limits of your Pilot as outlined in the vehicle owners manual.

Instructions for the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System # THROD2 are linked. Also linked is an FAQ on Timbren Suspension Enhancement Systems.
