Troubleshooting Reese Electric Brake Controller
Question:
When The reese activates the the red light comes on when it deactivated the light gos out but then comes back on for a split second causing the van to brake. Have you come across this ?

I haven't heard of a sudden surge like you mentioned on your Reese brake controller when it is deactivated. It definitely sounds like a glitch in the brake controller that could cause a safety issue. I have attached an article on bench testing a controller to see if there is an issue with the unity itself. If this is confirmed, I recommend replacing the controller as soon as you are able with a highly reliable unit like the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 4 Axles - Proportional # 90195.
