How to Identify the Axle Manufacturer on a 1991 International 18 Foot Trailer
Question:
I have a 1991 International 18 flat bed trailer with 6 lug wheels. How do I identify the manufacturer of my axles? On the drum these are cated 94000, W-1 and DPG or OPG the first letter is difficult to make out. I need to replace some components so ID of my axle is important. Thanks,

To determine the manufacturer of your axle you will need to look on the axle itself to see if there is a plate or sticker that would indicate the manufacturer or a part number. The other way is to contact the International dealer and give them the vehicle identification number (VIN) number of the trailer to see if they can determine the brand of axle you would have.
If you need to determine the weight capacity of the axle that can be done by measuring the diameter of the axle. A 3,500-lb. axle will have a axle diameter of 2-3/8 inches and a 6,000-lb. to 7,200-lb. axle will have an axle diameter of 3 inches. I am sending a link to A FAQ page on trailer suspensions and it will list the weight capacities for different axle diameters.
