Recommended Fifth Wheel Hitch for 2017 GMC 2500 Short Bed
Question:
I just purchased a 2017 GMC 2500 short bed crew..the unit thruck came with a factory installed CURT system. What is the best bang for my buck with the fifth wheel hitch? My unit fifth wheel camper has a dry weight of 8K and a GROSS of 10K all packed up . Is a fixed unit better than a slider unit? Thoughts and recommendations?

For your 2017 GMC 2500 short bed, I recommend the Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R16 Roller - Slide Bar Jaw - 16,000 lbs # 16516 along with the Adapter Rails for Curt 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Slider - Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package # C16023. You will definitely want a sliding hitch for your short bed truck to provide adequate turning clearance.
This combination is the best bang for your buck and will serve you well. There are other hitches like the # C16521 that have a couple really nice features that you may want to consider like the one pin removable head and the nicer jaws. It is a little step in price but the features may make it worth it to you. I've attached a video of each for you to compare.
You may want to consider adding a second 7-way to your truck bed using # C56000 for easier connection and access.
