Replacement Lead Leg for Fifth Wheel Landing Gear

Question:

My follow leg retracted quicker than my lead leg on my 2008 Montana 3665re landing gear set-up. To resolve the difference in retraction, I disconnected the connecting arm and raised the lead leg. Once it was in position, the connecting cross over rod was reconnected. When I extend the legs, the extend at the same rate and do lift the weight of the trailer from the 5th wheel. The repair mechanic replaced the follow leg, telling me that was the problem. When I went to retrieve the trailer, I noticed the same problem was occurring. Can I rebuild the lead leg, assuming the gear or screw drive is worn, or, should I buy a new lead leg to match that of the follow leg? The outer leg is 29.5 " long and 2.5" wide square. I believe the portion of the leg casing that are con-vexed steel are 16.5" apart. Pls let me know what you have, the part number, the weight bearing capability of the leg, and the cost for the lead leg.

I recommend replacing your lead leg with one that has the same dimensions as your new follow leg, the Replacement Lead Jack w/ Drop Leg # LG-179013.

This leg is 29-1/2" long, 2-1/2" wide, has a 4,000 lb weight capacity and can be used with most landing gear sets, including Atwood, Venture, and Lippert. I've included a link to a video review for you to take a look at.
