Recommended Towing Setup for a 2017 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid
Question:
I have a 2017 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid. FWD The U-Haul Company says that they have a hitch specifically made for this auto Would the transmission on this auto be able to pull a trailer

Helpful Expert Reply:
Yes, the automatic transmission in your 2017 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid is capable of towing a trailer. According to your owner's manual your vehicle has a maximum towing capacity of 1,000 lbs. Therefore, as long as your U-Haul trailer is less than 1,000 lbs. then you can safely tow it.
In order to tow a trailer with your vehicle you will need a trailer hitch, wiring harness, and ball mount/hitch ball. For this, I recommend the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 24897, the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56258, in addition to a ball mount/hitch ball.
I have attached an article for you to determine the correct ball mount.

Actually the hybrid manual specifically says you CAN NOT tow with it. Same for the Ford Fusion. Have people successfully towed with the MKZ Hybrid without damaging the drive train?
