Will the Draw-Tite # 75083 fit a 1997 Ford Explorer with a 225/70R15 Size Spare Tire
Question:
I have a 1997 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer 4x4 that runs 255/70R16 tires but the spare under the vehicle has a 225/70R15 tire. Will this hitch fit? Item # 75083

Expert Reply:
Yes, the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75083 fits all models of the 1997 Ford Explorer that do not have a tire with a 16 inch wheel. It will work perfect for your application. A sample installation video has been linked for you to review.
If you require wiring for a trailer or accessory I recommend using part # 118345 since you do not have the factory trailer connector. This will give you a 4-Way flat connector.
To tow with your setup you will also need a hitch ball and ball mount. I recommend checking out the etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit for 2" Hitches # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts - one with a 3/4 inch Rise or 2 inch Drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch Rise or 4 inch Drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag. You will want to look at the attached helpful article to make sure that either of these ball mounts is correct for your setup.
