B and W Companion Hitch Recommendation for 2014 Chevy Silverado 2500 Short Bed

Question:

Just want to make sure the bandw companion non slider hitch will work with my set up. I have a 2014 silverado 2500hd duramax with bandw gooseneck turnover ball. Towing a keystone montana 15000 gross withPopUp RV5 5th Fifth Wheel RV Hitch Adapter 10inch Extension.

Since you have a short bed truck you'll need the Slider Companion hitch part # BWRVK3400 which fit fit the B and W Turnoverball hitch you have in the bed of your truck.

The reason you need the slider hitch is so that the hitch and trailer can move back and allow you to make tight turns.

The RV5 pin box extender will give you 10 extra inches of extension between the nose of your trailer and the cab of your truck. If that's what you have on the trailer you are buying the stationary hitch part # BWRVK3500 is most likely going to let you get very close to making a 90 degree turn if not all the way there. Typically slider hitches will give you 12-14 inches of additional clearance which typically does the trick, so 10 extra inches will most likely get you there as well. Here's a formula to know for sure: (A + B) - C = Clearance A = Distance from the fifth wheel jaw center to the truck cab B = Offset used (RV5 clearance here is 10 inches) C = Width of the nose of the trailer divided by 2. Plug in the width of your trailer nose plus the distance from the center of your gooseneck ball hole to the cab of your truck for C and you'll know for sure.
