Bike Rack Recommendation for Carrying 3 Adult Bikes On a 2001 Saturn Ion

Question:

I see where this has a weight limit of 80lbs. Does not look like you could get 3 adult bikes that would be under the 80 lbs limit. Are there racks that can support 3 adult bikes?

You are correct the instructions for the Rola TX-103 3 Bike Carrier 59403 see link, state that the bikes should not exceed 80 lbs. Most adult bikes will weigh in at 25 to 35 pounds so it will depend on the model of the bikes you wish to carry, if the rack would be compatible.

We do have 3 bike racks that will accommodate 3 adult bikes up to 100 lbs total, like the Swagman Trailhead 3 Bike Carrier, item # S63365. When using the bike carrier with a Class I trailer hitch, like those available for the 2006 Saturn Ion, you will be limited to carrying only 2 bikes, because the torque applied to the hitch by the third bike can be too great for a Class I hitch.

You may want to consider the Swagman Bike Frame Adapter, item # 64005, if you will be carrying bikes with child or women style frames.
