Replacement Shank for Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System to Provide More Drop

Question:

I have a equal-i-zer weight distribution hitch, but on my F 350 Ford my 6 hole shank still has the top of the ball 2 1/2 to 3 inches above the coupler with the trailer parallel to the ground. My question is how critical is this measurement, to have top of ball and top of coupler at same height on level ground, and what shank would you recommend? I have a 12,000 lb. hitch with a tongue weight of 1200 lbs. Thanks for any help you can offer!

Level trailers tend to tow better and have less sway so having the hitched trailer level with the ground is worthwhile. You can replace just the shank of your Equal-i-zer weight distribution system with one that has the required drop. All 2-inch shanks are shown on the linked page.

These shanks use standard dimensions and hole spacing so you can use another brand of shank if it has the correct drop for your setup.

For example, Curt offers shank part # C17125 which provides for drop of as much as 15-3/4-inches. Equal-i-zer part # EQ90-02-4400 provides up to 9-inches of drop.
