The shape of a roof basket like the XTray, part # RMCB01 can make it very loud when travelling, but there are a few things you can do to help it be a little quieter as you're travelling.
The first option is to simply remove the roof basket and store it when not in use. This will save the basket from any unnessary damage, but risks it not being available when you want it, or having the style you want for your vehicle.
The next option is to replace your vortex strips, part # RRM626 . This is the striping that is in the top T-Channel of your roof rack, and if its worn down, it won't help the wind pass as well as it did when you first bought the racks, causing a lot of additional noise. This can be a simple step to reduce the noise.
Your last option is a little odd, but adding a fairing like the 44 inch Rhino-Rack Fairing, part # RRRF3 to the front crossbar and leaving the fairing on the front of the basket, can help combat two common areas of wind noise. This will have to be carefully placed as it can possibly run over where the box connects to your bars.
