Recommended Curt A20 Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch in 2017 GMC 3500 with 6-1/2 Foot Bed
Question:
while looking at the curt Q20 with slide I noticed a one line statement on your site that says you can not use the lowest setting on this hitch. What is the reason for this as I am looking at that combination, but realize that the hitch on anything higher than the lowest setting puts the trailer on a nose up configuration. Can you please let me know. 2017 GMC 3500 6.5 bed. thanks.

I spoke with my contact at Curt and he said the lowest height possible of the Curt A20 5th Wheel Hitch w/ R20 Slider, # C16541, when used as a slider is 17-1/2 inches. The hitch will not be able to slide properly if you tried to use it in the lowest position which is intended for using this hitch without the slider in a long bed truck. The adjustment increments are 2 inches so you will still have 3 height options. This is a very nice hitch and a good option for your 2017 GMC Sierra 3500 with 6-1/2 foot bed.
If you have the factory rail kit, I recommend the Adapter Rails for Curt 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Slider - Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package # C16023. If you do not have the factory puck system, then I recommend the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit for Chevy/GMC - Carbide Finish # C16411-204 for your 5th wheel rails. You may also want to consider the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness w/ 7-Pole Connector - 10' Long # C56000 to add a 7-way wiring connection in the bed of your truck for easy access and connection.
