Location of Draw-Tite Class III 2 Inch Hitch # 75673 on a 2011 Subaru Outback Wagon

Question:

I have already read your answer that the 75673 will work on the 6 cylinder dual factory exhaust system with extra heat shield modification. All your hitches fit except for the sport model Outback what is the sport model? I dont see any reference at Subaru at all to a sport model. Also do these hitches fit tight and look hidden? The video makes this hard to judge. I dont know how hidden the factory 1 1/4 is either, but I only do light hauling and bike carrying. I am toying with perhaps getting that hitch if it tucks away more than your hitches and cutting off the 1 1/4 receiver and manufacturing a 2 receiver onto it instead. Do you know the differences in how hidden your hitches are versus the factory one? Thanks for your reply.

The Outback Sport is referring to the Subaru Impreza model that is called the Outback Sport.

The Draw-Tite Class III 2 Inch Hitch, part # 75673, is visible underneath the rear fascia, but the receiver tube does not protrude from under the vehicle. When the factory hitch is installed the rear fascia is removed from the vehicle and mounted behind the fascia, but the receiver tube does stick out about 2 to 3 inches from the fascia.

Because of safety issues I would NOT recommend to modify any hitch. When a hitch is designed, all of the testing for safety and weight capacity is based on that design. When you modify the hitch that hitch will no longer be able to handle the weight and stresses it was designed for.

If you look at the vehicle pictures on the # 75673 product page it will show you where the Draw-Tite will be located on the Subaru Outback Wagon. If you position your cursor over the picture it will allow you to zoom in and get a closer view of the hitch location.

I am including a link to the installation instructions on the Draw-Tite # 75673. It will also show the location of the hitch on your vehicle.
