Troubleshooting Curt Venturer Trailer Brake Controller Without Trailer Connected
Question:
I have a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado and purchased a Curt Venturer Trailer Brake Controller and the Universal Wiring Adapter for Curt Trailer Brake Controllers. install was simple. First time i applied breaks i got the green light but later in the day the green light did not come on. it seems to work when it wants to. i am not pulling a trailer yet. Any ideas what it could be or test thank you

Expert Reply:
The Curt Venturer Trailer Brake Controller # C74VV will not work correctly until it senses a trailer attached. A trailer will actually have a small draw on the brake controller output wire, so if you want to test without a trailer, you can use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to create that draw on your output wire to allow you to see the function. The brake controller output pin of a 7-way is in the 5 o'clock position as you look at the rear of your truck.
