Troubleshooting Brake Controller Not Allowing Truck To Start
Question:
Hi, I have a 2014 suburban. I recently purchased a Curt brake controller. After connecting it, my truck seems to trip the security. The display on my truck shows the abs, check engine, traction control and a few other lights. The brake controller will not turn on. No display at all. I checked the ITBC fuse in slot 6 and it was fine. Any ideas on getting my truck to start with the controller connected.

For your 2014 Chevy Suburban, no plug is present under the dash, but the needed wires are already run. You will connect the brake controller wiring with the vehicle wiring already present under the dash using the Universal Wiring Adapter for Curt Trailer Brake Controllers # C51515. It seems the 2007 to 2013 brake controller wiring was carried over into 2014 for your vehicle. I've attached and article to assist.
The issue you are experiencing is most likely because you have a plug that fits, but isn't connected to the proper components so it is causing issues instead of solving a problem.
