For your 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, # 90885, and Plug-In Wiring Adapter, # 3025-P.
The Prodigy P2 is a proportional controller that will apply your trailer brakes with the same intensity that you apply your Tahoe's brakes. The wiring harness allows you to connect the brake controller without cutting and splicing into your OEM wiring. The harness will plug inserts into a electrical junction box under the dash of the Tahoe.
I have attached an installation video of this brake controller and harness being installed on a 2008 Chevy Tahoe for you to review.
