Curt Venturer Brake Controller Installation in 2008 Ram 1500 Quad Cab

Question:

Truck had 4 way connector at bumper. I installed a 7 way. I now am installing Curt Brake Control C74VV. I have plugged into the blue connector under the dash and have found the connector under the truck behind the dr. side wheel well. The only blue wire is blue w/white tracer. However, that wire is also on the hitch side of the connector, but I dont know where it goes. In locating the correct wire to run back to the blue wire on the 7 way, what voltage should I find on the correct wire and under what conditions brake on, brake off, trailer controller manually applied, etc? Also, what do I do with the black wire and white wire at the 7 way? Thanks, guys.

You can find the wire that carries your brake controller's output signal by using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 while a helper activates the Curt Venturer Trailer Brake Controller # C74VV. Set the Venturer to maximum power/boost and either press the brake pedal or the manual override. The controller should then output a full power 12V signal that you should be able to detect. The same wire will carry the controller output signal whether you use the pedal or the override.

Typically 7-way wiring uses a black wire for the 12V trailer power circuit; the white wire is usually ground and is to be secured to the vehicle.
