Correct Wiring Needed For a 5-Way Connector To Tow Boat Trailer With My 2006 Lexus RX400h
Question:
I am looking to purchase the correct wire kit for install on my 2006 Lexus RX400h. I already have the boat with a 5 flat pole connection and was told that the 4 poles are lights and the 5th pole is for the brakes? Is this correct? Do you have the right wiring kit for my car so I can connect it to my boat trailer?

To install a 5-way connector on your 2006 Lexus RX400h, you will first need to install harness # C59496. Then, you can install the Adapter 4 Pole to 5 Pole, part # 20036, which will give you a 5-way connection at the rear of your Lexus.
The 5th wire or the Blue wire on a 5-way, is for the electric lockout for the surge brakes on your trailer. The Blue wire gets connected to the reverse light circuit of your vehicle. When you put the vehicle in reverse when connected to the trailer, the brakes will be locked out so that you can launch your boat or back-up with your trailer connected.
This is the correct wiring setup that you will need for your 2006 Lexus RX400h.
