Roof Cargo Box Rear Hatch Clearance Compatibility For 45 Inch Front Clearance
Question:
According to the Thule guide the Force Lg. box needs 47 1/2 front clearance. On my 2015 Mazda CX-5 front clearance is 45. So would this mean that I couldnt open the hatch fully?

According to Thule, there is a necessary crossbar spread as well as the clearance needed from the front crossbar to the rear hatch seam. This is what they can absolutely confirm will fit. Because your front clearance on your 2015 Mazda CX-5 is 45 inches, they can't confirm that the Thule Force XT Rooftop Cargo Box - 16 cu ft - AeroSkin Black # TH6357B will fit and allow you to open your hatch completely. This carrier has a front clearance of 47-1/2 inches as you mentioned so that would guarantee no contact on any vehicle. It may fit your Mazda based on angle of hatch lift and height of crossbars, but they can confirm with that measurement it will fit.
For a list that gives you these clearance measurements, I have attached an article that contains a list. For your clearance measurement, Thule confirms a fit for the Pulse # TH614, and the Sidekick # TH78GC. Yakima confirms a fit for their RocketBox Pro 14 # Y07192.
