Reversing Handle on Dutton-Lainson 1,400 Pound Hand Winch

Question:

I am trying to reverse the handle on the 15303. One of the bushings for the handle shaft is press fit, or seems to be. Do I need to press this bushing out and press in the other side? The other bushing is slip fit. Thank you,

I spoke with my contact at Dutton-Lainson regarding your Hand Winch # DL15303. On this particular unit the handle can in fact be reversed (to be on the left side instead of the right). In order to do this, you will basically need to take apart the assembly and reassemble it with the handle on the left side.

The drum, shaft, gear shaft and pawl shaft will need to be removed and reversed. The gear shaft is held into place by both a nut and e-clip, which can simply be removed and pushed out. You will need to push out the bushing and install it into place on the other side.

I have attached an image that might be helpful that identifies the mentioned parts.
