Installing A Transmission Cooler On A 2017 Honda Pilot
Question:
I have a 2017 Honda Pilot Touring AWD that will require a transmission cooler to tow my Searay 185 Sport. I have read in some forums that the Pilot requires a software/firmware upgrade as well as additional transmission fluid. Do you have information on both of those items?

I called my contact at Derale Performance and they stated that they are not aware of any required software updates though they do recommend adding an additional 5-10 oz. of transmission fluid to the system. To be certain, I recommend asking your local Honda dealer if firmware adjustments are necessary.
For a transmission cooler that will work with your 2017 Honda Pilot, I recommending using Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets part # D13503 as this is the largest Class transmission cooler we have that is rated for the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of your vehicle.
If you do not already have them, I recommend using both the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver part # e98840 and the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with Upgraded Circuit Protected ModuLite HD Module part # 118760 as these two items will be a perfect addition to complete the towing package on your 2017 Honda Pilot.
I have linked an installation video of the cooler and hitch on a 2017 Honda Pilot for you.

Is this the same transmission cooler recommended for Honda pilot 2017 touring (9AT)? or do you have a different recommendation? Thanks.
