Hullavator Kayak Rack Fit On 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee With Or Without E-Group Package
Question:
I just sold my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and purchased a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the track on the roof of the car. My old Thule set up had a Hullavator I purchased in 2006. How can I make this work on my new jeep. I want to change from the square bars to the Aero bars. Based on what I have read I need the THARB53, TH460R, THKT3142 to make this work. I do not have the current model Hullavator that works with this system. What do I need to do to make this work.

The Thule Hullavator Pro Kayak Carrier and Lift Assist with Tie-Downs - Side Loading # TH898 needs 4-6 inches crossbar extension beyond the feet of your roof rack. You will want to fold your side mirror to give you clearance when raising or lowering your kayak with this system.
For your 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the roof rack system will be determined by whether you have the e-group package or not. The e-group package has a metal trim on the very top of the flush mounted rails, and the non e-group does not have metal on the top, but may or may not have trim on the sides. I'll give you the system for each option.
For e-group, I recommend the Thule aero loadbars that replaced the AeroBlade in 60" length # TH711520 to give you the extra length for your Hullavator.
Thule Podium Foot Pack for Aero Bars # TH460R
Thule Fit Kit for Podium Style Foot Pack # THKIT3142
For non e-group, I recommend the Thule WingBar Load Bars - Aluminum - 60" - Qty 2 # TH711520, the Thule Rapid Traverse Roof-Rack Foot Pack # TH480R, and the Thule Roof Rack Fit Kit for Traverse Foot Packs # THKIT1656.
