Recommendation on Flat Towing Wiring for a 2017 GMC Canyon
Question:
I ordered a flat tow wiring harness for my 2014 Jeep to Motorhome......worked great.........Now I need one for a 2017 GMC Canyon 4WD without adaptive cruse control.......Im a little confused about which one to get? also a good battery disconnect for the same Canyon......I will also order the Roadmaster Brackets RM-523182-5 for the Canyon also....... Seemed easy for the Jeep.....several to choose from on the Canyon?......... I made a 7 pin to 4 flat cable to go from the MH to the Tow, but can use whatever.....

For your 2017 GMC Canyon, I recommend the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit, # RM-154. The kit will work on both 2 and 3-wire lighting systems. The kit includes the 4-pole flat plug, so connecting to your 7 pin to 4 flat cable will not be an issue.
As for a battery disconnect, I recommend the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect, # RM-766. The Roadmaster battery is switch operated allowing for easy engaging on the battery disconnect. The switch can be installed in the cab of your GMC Canyon.
Disconnecting the battery, whether manually or with the Roadmaster automatic disconnect, will affect your vehicle's electronics. You will need to reset various electrical components in your vehicle following use of this product. Also, a charge line, like # RM-156-25, is a good idea if you have a braking system that is using power from the towed vehicles battery while it is disconnected.
