For the trailer brake wiring on your 1999 Chevy Suburban, I recommend the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7. This kit includes the wiring, connectors, and circuit breakers to transform a basic 4-way into a 7-way for trailer brakes. If you don't have a 4-way, I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C55319.
If you don't have a brake controller yet, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 4 Axles - Proportional # 90195. This controller applies your trailer brakes with the same amount of pressure and at the same time as you hit the brake pedal in your Suburban. It has an easy to read LCD screen that takes the code deciphering of most controllers out of the equation. It is easy to use, reliable, and understandable.
