Choosing a Ball Mount for a 2015 GMC Acadia Denali with Factory Tow Package
Question:
I have a 2015 GMC Acadia Denali which comes equipped with a trailer towing package. Im presuming this is the correct hitch to mate up with the receiver provided with the vehicle. Please verify if possible. Further, do you offer a similar product but having provisions for trailer safety chains. Thank you.

I have a coworker with a 2015 GMC Acadia that has the tow package as well so I went out to check it out. The hitch on the vehicle does have safety chain loops on each side of the receiver so you would not have to have a ball mount that has safety chain loops.
The ball mount you use will depend on how much rise or drop you will need to tow the trailer level. To determine that there are a couple of measurements needed. First measure from the ground to the top of the receiver opening on the vehicle. Then use the trailer jack to get the trailer level and measure from the ground to the bottom of the coupler.
If the vehicle is higher the difference between the measurements is the amount of drop you will need. If the trailer is higher the difference is the amount of rise you will need. Curt ball mount # C45041 has a 2 inch drop and if that is what you need to tow the trailer level it could work. I have included a link to a help article that further explains measuring for rise or drop.
Another option is to go with an adjustable ball mount such as # FA42-00-2800 so that you are ready to tow trailers with different heights.
