Can you use both the 7pin and the 4pin, at the same time?

I contacted our representative at Hopkins about the Pollak 7 and 4-pole Trailer Connector, part # HM40975. The representative informed me that you cannot use the 7-Way and 4-Way plugs at the same time as the two doors do not open up enough.
Part # HM40975 will fit the 2010 GMC 1500, 2500, and 3500 series.
