The stop light switch that you will need to connect the red wire to on the Brake Control Plug-In Harness for Tekonsha part # 20127 may be pre ran to a set of wires taped to the underside of the drivers side vehicle dash. If the wires are not present in this location, I recommend installing a stop light switch such as the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit part # RM-751471 to wire the brake controller stop light switch to because of the difficulty and risk of error that is involved when splicing into the factory brake pedal wiring harness. If a sensor finds an interrupted circuit, it may disable the circuit or set error codes with one of a number of systems.
If you want to use the factory stoplight switch wire, the wire you will need to splice into is a dark/light green wire which is responsible for the vehicles stop light switch. In order to ensure this is the correct wire, you will want to check this using a circuit tester such as part #PTW2993. Once attached to the wire, you will need to press the brake pedal to ensure you are only receiving power to that wire while the pedal is depressed.
I have attached a video that will further explain this process.
