Available Auto-Sliding 5th Wheel Hitches for 2017 GMC Sierra 2500 HD Short Bed Pickup
Question:
I have a new fifth wheel on order, and I need to get a slider hitch because I only have a 6.5 foot bed. I have used a pullrite slider before and I loved it. My question is, if my fiver has a gvwr of 16,000 pounds, will the 4100 super glide at 16k be enough or should I go with the 4400 at 18k? I think I know the answer, but I figured Id better check! My truck 2017 GMC 2500hd already has the OE Fifth wheel prep package, so I believe I need the #4444 mounting rails. The coach comes with the Moryde rubber pin box and I think I need the #331707 capture plate. OK, any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!!

Your short-bed Sierra 2500 HD pickup does need a sliding type 5th wheel hitch to give you a reasonable turning radius. And yes, you do already know the answer! Safety margin in towing capacity is always a sensible idea.
In your truck that has the factory 5th wheel prep an 18K hitch like the Demco Hijacker Autoslide # DM8550034, or better yet their 21K # DM8550035, will provide the same automatic sliding feature and a full 14-inches of slider travel, the same as the PullRite 4400. Both install using rail adapter # DM6194. I urge you to carefully compare the design and build of these USA-made Demco units to any other auto-slide hitch.
If you use the PullRite 4400 you will need their capture plate 331707 if your MorRyde pin box is 13-1/2-inches wide.
