Question:
Hello, I would like help to make sure I have all the parts I need to add brakes to my new Interstate 5 X 8 cargo trailer. It has a 3500lb axle with a brake mounting flange attached. To add brakes and the wiring to support their operation to your 5 x 8 cargo trailer you'll want to make sure the brakes have the correct rating for your axle (which you did) and also that they use the same mounting bolt pattern as your installed brake flanges. The brakes you referenced, left and right brake kit # AKEBRK-35-SA, use a 4-bolt flange pattern.
The hubs you referenced, # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K, will work with these brakes. Do note that these hubs are intended for axles with EZ-Lube spindles that have a grease zerk fitting on the end. They will also work on standard spindles.
Wiring the brakes will require a junction box like # 38656 as well as the 7-way trailer plug like # H20044. You will also need ring terminals # 44-5310A to make the connections and 10-gauge wire # 10-1-1 to run from the junction box to each brake assembly. Either brake wire can be ground or hot. You can refer to the linked article for more on adding electric brakes to a trailer; this will give you a complete recap of all the things to keep in mind and all the parts required.
The wheel/tire you referenced, Provider # TA47VR, will fit your selected hubs and is rated appropriately for the 3500-lb axle capacity.
