Does Weight Distribution Hitch Stop Persistent Trailer Sway

Question:

I have a 2010 F150 crewcab 6.5ft bed 5.4. We tow a 2011 jayco jayflight 26bh with a dry weight of 4850 and tongue weight of 600. I estimate with all our stuff we are around 7,000lbs and 900 tongue weight. Currently we are using the E2 WD system and experience trailer sway. What would you recommend as a better system to use? Thank you!

Weight distribution systems can help greatly with sway from passing semi trucks and high winds, but if you are getting a persistent sway all the time on the highway the issue is actually the loading of your trailer.

You need to move the weight of your cargo further forward in the trailer so that you can get it to be around 10-15 percent of the total trailer weight. That's the only way really to prevent persistent sway.

Also make sure your trailer is sitting as level as possible.

The best weight distribution system we offer though that comes with sway control is the Strait Line system as it comes with a SC that works to fight sway before it happens. For your loaded tongue weight of 900 lbs the best setup is the part # RP66084 which has a tongue weight range of 600-1,200 lbs.
