5th Wheel Trailer Hitch is Too Tight in Rails in 2017 Chevy Silverado 3500

Question:

I recently purchased a 2017 chevy 3500 and had the rails installed. I have a pulrite 16k fifth wheel hitch that fit nicely in my old truck. When tried to pull the hitch to open the bed, I needed a pry bar to remove said hitch. I have yet to try to put the hitch back in, but am expecting a headache to reinstall any advice to remedy this?

It sounds like the 5th wheel rails in your new 2017 Chevy Silverado 3500 are not square meaning one or both rails are at a slight angle. It could also mean that the rails are not spaced apart properly. What I recommend is to loosen the hardware that holds the rails to the brackets under the bed. Then use the hitch to line up the rails before tightening all the hardware back down. This should, at the very least, make it somewhat easier to install and remove the hitch.
