Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2017 Subaru Outback to Replace Factory Hitch
Question:
I had the dealership put on a trailer hitch. It is the wimpy small opening hitch. I had no idea that there was a 2 inch hitch available for this vehicle. I have a yearning for the Curt 132306 hitch. I have watched the installation video several times. But that is not how the dealerships hitch is on. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to take that inferior in my view one off?

We've never personally removed a factory trailer hitch from a 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon, but I looked up install picture online and it looks like the rear bumper and taillight assemblies do have to come off.
With it off you then could install the Curt hitch part # C13206 which would be much more heavy duty. The install of it is much less invasive. I attached an install video for you to check out as well.
If you don't have trailer wiring currently but think you'll want it now or later it would be a good time to install it with the rear end taken apart. For that you'd need the # C56040 which is a confirmed fit. Install video attached for this as well.
