Troubleshooting Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller That Does Not Light Up

Question:

Hi. I have a Voyager on a 98 Ford F-250 light duty, that has worked fine during the 8 years that Ive owned the truck. Now, when connected to the trailer, the LED does not illuminate. All trailer lights work as they should, but brakes are not activating. Ive tested the controller with the negative lead connected to the white controller lead. I have 12 volts at the black output lead, 12 volts on the Red, only with the brake pedal pressed, and a constant 12volts on the Blue lead. As mentioned in the subject line, I never see the LED lit, even when sliding the manual control. Thanks in advance for any advice that you may have.

Brake controller wiring like that on the Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller # 39510 uses white for ground, black for 12V+ operating power, red for the brake light switch signal that triggers the controller and the blue wire for the controller's actual output that gets routed to the 7-way. If your blue output wire carries a constant 12V signal at all times then the controller is damaged internally and should be replaced.
