Recommended Wiring Harness for a 1993 Volkswagen Cabriolet
Question:
I would like to know if this is the correct harness to wire to my 93 VW Cabriolet that has separate blinkers, brakes, and running lights, to a Bunkhouse MC camper that has separate blinkers and side markers, combined bulb for running and brakes. They have the marine type light assemblies, on a fiberglass body and ground all running to ground on tongue of trailer. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

The # 118158 is a converter to use when towing a trailer that uses a 3-wire system. Since it sounds like your trailer has separate brake and turn signal circuits will you will need to install the converter on your trailer.
The converter installs on the trailer right after the 4-way connector. Both turn signal/brake light circuits will go into the converter. The left hand side to the yellow wire and the right hand side to the green wire. Then on the out put the green will go to your right turn signal, the yellow your left turn signal, and the red will run to both brake lights. The running light from your 4-way will not go through the converter and runs directly to the lights. I've attached a diagram for you.
However, for a wiring harness on the 1993 Volkswagen Cabriolet you need a wiring harness that provides a 4-way trailer connector. For this use the # 119178KIT that's confirmed to work with the VW.
