Drum and Hub Kit, Wheel, and Brake Assembly Recommendation for a 2009 Starcraft 2106

Question:

I wish to put on trailer brakes on my 2009 Starcraft 2106. The axle is made by Dexter I think and do not know its model. I removed one hub and measured with a cheap caliper and got the following measurements of spindle Seal size 1.73, model #TCM 171255TB, inner bearing 1 3/8, outer bearing 1 1/16 model L44649. My axle also has the ez lube grease fitting. I have 5.3 x 12 tires on it, and the GVWR is 2090 pounds. The axle has the brake mounting plate. I would like to bolt on a drum and hub kit and the brake assembly and keep my existing wheels. I think I need the 3500 pound drum assembly to fit with the bearing and seal sizes, but that will need a 10 drum. Im wondering if the 10 drum will fit my 12 wheels or if there is another option?

I did some research and found that all of the hub and drum assemblies that would fit on your spindle would be 10 inches in diameter, and I also found that if you have a 10 drum you have to have at least a 13 inch rim, so you would need to upgrade to bigger wheels and tires also.

The Trailer Hub & Drum Assembly, part # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K, that you referenced is the correct hub and drum assembly.

For brake assemblies I would recommend a Galvanized 10 inch Marine Brake Assembly, part # 18788, for the left hand assembly, and part # 18787 for the right hand side.

For bigger wheels and tires I would recommend that you get Karrier ST175/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire with 13 inch Galvanized Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range D, part # AM31994.

I attached a couple links to videos on installing brakes on a trailer that does not have brakes on them for you to check out also.
