Tire and Wheel Recommendation To Replace 20.5x8x10 Trailer Tires and Wheels

Question:

My trailer came with 20.5 X 8 X 10 C tires. The previous owner put 4.8 X 12 C on it. Both fit well with the fenders and hauling weight is less than rating on either. We will do a lot of long drives with this PWC trailer. Which is best for highway towing on long trips? Thank you

For the 20.5x8x10, the new size is a 205/65-10. This would be the better tire for the long drives you plan on because it is a wider tire that will offer more stability. You can also get higher load capacities with the wider tire in this case if needed. I recommend the Loadstar K399 Bias Trailer Tire, # AM1HP56, for just a tire. This tire has a load capacity of 1,650 pounds at 90 psi. It is designed to fit on 10 by 6 inch rims. Trailer tires should be inflated to their maximum psi rating for best performance and longer life.

For a tire and wheel combo, it depends on the bolt pattern you need. In the 205/65-10 size we have 4 on 4 and 5 on 4-1/2 bolt patterns. For a 4 on 4, I recommend Kenda 205/65-10 Bias Trailer Tire with 10 Inch White Wheel, # AM3H460. For a 5 on 4-1/2, I recommend # AM3H480. I have included a link to our FAQ article on measuring for bolt pattern and an FAQ on measuring a trailer tire.
