Is the Gorilla Tailgate Assist Going to Rust Easily

My utility trailer is stored outside in all kinds of weather Upper Midwest. How dependable is it in regards the elements and would you recommend any kind of lube or coating be applied to the components to prevent rust from forming?

The spring of the Gorilla Lift part # GL1 is zinc coated to fight corrosion and the body of the assembly is powdercoated to fight corrosion as well.
If you check out the review video I attached you can see where Gorilla Lift recommends applying a thin bead of clear silicone to protect against corrosion.
