The Class III Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13358 is a confirmed fit for your 2013 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500 - 170 inch Wheelbase - with factory step bumper. It has a Gross Towing Weight (GTW) of 5,000 lbs and a max Tongue Weight (TW) of 500 lbs. When you are using a Weight Distribution (WD) System, like the Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution System # RP66084, those capacities increase to 7,500 lbs GTW and 750 lbs TW. Since the hitch can handle 7,500 lbs when using a WD system you can pull a trailer that weighs 7,500 lbs but you will want to add an extra transmission cooler to help prevent your Sprinter from running hot.
I recommend using a stacked-plate cooler, like the Derale # D13403, as they tend to be the most efficient. The best location to mount a transmission cooler is in between the grille and AC condenser core where the most air will pass through it. If you do not have room there I have attached a helpful article that goes into detail about mounting a cooler as well as a link to our selection of available transmission coolers for you to choose from.
For the rest of your towing setup you will also need wiring, a ball mount, and a hitch ball.
I recommend using the Tekonsha # 118650 for wiring and a Ball Mount Kit # 989900 which comes with 2 ball mounts and 2 hitch balls. You will want to make sure that the ball mounts have the appropriate Rise or Drop for your application. You can see how to choose the correct ball mount by looking at the helpful link that I am attaching for you.
If you decide to use a WD system then you will need to choose one that has your Total Tongue Weight (the TW of your loaded and ready-to-go trailer plus any cargo behind the rear axle of your Sprinter) in the middle of it's range. You will just need a hitch ball if you get a WD that includes a shank. You can use part # A-90 for a 2 inch hitch ball or part # 19286 for a 2-5/16 inch hitch ball.
