Comparing Installation Of Curt Converter And Tekonsha T-One Converter On 2013 Toyota Highlander

2013 Toyota Highlander Limited trailer wiring harness. You put the Curt 56217 converter under the dash on a flat spot and you put the T One behind a side panel. Why the difference?

The 2013 Toyota Highlander wiring harness converter boxes have different locations because the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56217 is physically a bigger box than the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118449. The Curt converter box is larger and needs to be connected to a flat surface, so that is what is recommended by the manufacturer. The two units will have the same functions, they are just different designs and in this case the Tekonsha product is smaller and easier to hide behind the side panel, but you can mount that one as well if you desire.
